Recycle those old crayons!

Those who know me really well know that I don't like throwing things out, especially when it comes to art and craft things.

This means I have 4 containers of old old crayons. Most of the crayons are broken, old and ugly, some have half melted and the wrappers... well, just look at the picture!

After years and years of just keeping them for no real reason whatsoever, I've finally figured out what to do with them.

The process

1. Easter stock is in and I found a cute silicone Easter egg mould at Coles for $3.

2. I put some of the crayons in a zip lock bag (after removing all the paper) and broke them all up with a hammer (I also released some pent up stress!)

3. I then put the little pieces in the mould, making sure to put a variety of colours in each egg.

4. Finally I put them in the oven on a low temperature until the wax had melted. Obviously, you then remove them from the oven and allow them to cool until the wax solidifies once again.

You can see the mold and finished crayons in the picture below.

They didn't look as amazing as I thought they would at first... But after they cooled and my girls started using them, I fell in love with the rainbow colour effect. They look AMAZING on paper, and my kids just absolutely love them.

These are our Easter gifts for my nieces and nephews this year along with some notebooks which is a nice gift when you don't want to dish out chocolate!

Give it a try and put those old crayons to good use, you won't regret it!
